Victor Lohmann, Psy.D., JD
Resident Psychologist
EMDR Trained
My name is Dr. Victor Lohmann and I am a post-doctoral, pre-licensure therapist at the Goretti Center for Healing and Forgiveness. I received my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University in Sterling, VA. I am available to offer therapy services to adolescents and adults. I have clinical and assessment experience in a variety of healthcare settings, including a psychiatric in-patient hospital, a Christian-oriented private practice, a residential substance use and addiction treatment program for adolescents, and an outpatient treatment program for young adults with developmental disabilities. My internship was completed in Colorado Springs, CO in a community mental health center (CMHC) offering mental health services primarily to adults, serving low-income populations and individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). In conducting therapy, I use a psychodynamic approach complemented by a strong interpersonal component attentive to the relational experience between therapist and client. My mode of therapy fosters an in-depth exploration of various aspects of a client’s experience, and strives not only to relieve psychological distress but also to promote healing and flourishing. My dissertation was entitled “The Impact of Pornography Use on Generalized Habit Formation.”
Prior to entering the psychology profession, I worked as a patent attorney for various private practices (J.D., Suffolk University Law School; B.S. Electrical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). I also owned and operated a sole proprietorship tutoring business dedicated to providing tutoring services to high school students in preparation for college admissions exams.
