Social Work Intern

For more than 15 years, I have been serving in the Navy to improve mental health in our sailors, and to prevent the negative effects of the stressors associated with military experience. A sad reality is becoming more and more clear in the data, and I have seen this in my practice, that depression and suicide are more common in the military than in the general population. My jobs in the Navy have brought me into direct contact with people suffering, and their heartbreaking stories. This concern led me to seek further education at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford to study for a Masters in Social Work so that I can offer counseling services to those struggling emotionally and with their mental health. As a woman of Faith, I am thrilled to be working at the Goretti Center where we integrate our Catholic faith into our counseling services.
